Editorial policy
This page describes how GamblingHelp.ie writes, reviews and updates its guides. It is published in plain English so readers, journalists and partner organisations can hold us to a consistent standard.
Independence
GamblingHelp.ie is not funded by, partnered with, or paid by any gambling operator. We do not accept industry advertising and we do not sell placements in our service directory.
How articles are written
- Each article is written for a specific search intent and reader profile.
- Drafts are checked against publicly available evidence and Irish-specific services.
- Where evidence is contested, we present ranges or note the disagreement explicitly.
- We avoid sensational language, loss-amount voyeurism and individual blame.
Review process
- Every long-form guide is reviewed by the GamblingHelp.ie Editorial Team before publication.
- Pillar pages on YMYL (Your Money, Your Life) topics carry a visible "last reviewed" date and are scheduled for periodic re-review at least annually.
- Material changes to Irish law, regulation or services trigger an out-of-cycle review.
Source standards
- Primary statutory and regulatory bodies (GRAI, HSE, MABS, ISI) take precedence.
- Peer-reviewed research and government-funded bodies (HRB, ESRI) for evidence claims.
- Established Irish support providers for service-related claims.
- UK / international sources cited only where Irish evidence is sparse and the comparator is reasonable.
Update process and corrections
We update guides when we identify factual errors, when an Irish service materially changes, or when new public evidence shifts the picture. Corrections are made in place; the "last reviewed" date is updated. To request a correction, email editorial@gamblinghelp.ie.
What we are not
We are not a clinician, regulator, lawyer or financial adviser. Nothing on this site replaces a relationship with a qualified professional. Where a decision matters, talk to one — and we will tell you which one.
