Employer toolkit — gambling support at work (Ireland)
GamblingHelp.ie · Information only · Not affiliated with the HSE or GRAI
HR note
Gambling harm affects roughly 1 in 30 adults in Ireland and many more family members. It typically presents in the workplace as absenteeism, financial stress, requests for advances, or sudden performance changes. A supportive, confidential response keeps people in work and reduces long-term cost.
Manager guide — having the conversation

- Describe specific changes you have observed — not assumptions.
- Offer practical support: EAP referral, a link to GamblingHelp.ie, time to make a call.
- Maintain confidentiality. Document only what is necessary for HR.
